'The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt': Trailer Focuses on New Character Ciri and Her Magical Powers
A "Rage & Steel" trailer for the upcoming game "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" was released recently, giving gamers a peek at a female Witcher named Ciri. She is going to be a playable character just like the main protagonist Geralt, but her magical powers are different and in some ways more powerful than his.
Some gaming sites have already been describing Ciri, whose full name is Cirilla, as the primary character in the game. This was also cited in a recent interview with game designer Nicolas Kolm. In the interview, he said Ciri is now the most important character in the game and that Geralt will be tasked with finding and protecting her in the game. Kolm also stated that the whole story in the game revolves around her and Geralt.
This does not mean, however, that the protagonist Geralt will be relegated to the sidelines. Instead he will have magical skills different from those of Ciri.
Also during the open world game, most of the action will be experienced through Geralt. Ciri will only become playable when gamers need to learn the story from her perspective.
Last year, CD Projekt Red stated that even though gamers will not be able to "play as Ciri for long periods of time, she is crucial to the plot."
As for her magical powers, more information about them was released recently. It pointed towards her having the ability to move between various worlds. In addition, she has inherited a number of hidden powers that will be gradually revealed as the game progresses.
Ciri has her own weaknesses because she is still human in spite of her deadly magical abilities.
CD Projekt Red also noted that she will not be a "Mary Sue" character and good at everything she does. As for her unique combat style, a short preview was provided in the trailer which saw Ciri and Geralt take on a number of opponents.
