'Thor: Ragnarok' premiere date, news, spoilers: First look at Cate Blanchet's Hela revealed; title to also feature Hulk
Cate Blanchet will be playing the big bad known as Hela, and the first look at her evil appearance has been revealed. Meanwhile, "Ragnarok" follows the journey of Thor (Chris Hemsworth), but it will also feature a big part on missing-in-action Avenger member, the Hulk, portrayed by Mark Ruffalo.
Directed by Taika Waititi and produced by Kevin Feige, "Thor: Ragnarok" is slated to premiere in November this year featuring Thor on another mission to save Asgard from destruction.
The synopsis posted on Den of Geek reads, "Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok – the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization – at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first, he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger – the Incredible Hulk!"
It appears that Thor will have to triumph against the Hulk first before he can begin saving his home world. But it seems that the two will not really become each other's enemy as vice president of Marvel Studios' production and development Brad Winderbaum shared in the special feature of "Doctor Strange" home release that Thor and the Hulk's amazing relationship will be seen in "Ragnarok."
Comicbook reports that Winderbaum also added that a big portion of the film will be following the "Planet Hulk" story arc where the green superhero was exiled to a planet that he eventually ruled as his kingdom.
Meanwhile, the first look on Blanchet's Hela was also featured in the home release of "Doctor Strange," and the portrayal of the villain in the film seems to accurately depict its comic book counterpart.
The photo appears to have been set in New York City, with Thor and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) seen beneath her.
"Thor: Ragnarok" is slated to premiere on Nov. 3.
