'Thor: Ragnarok' release date, plot spoilers: Set photos reveal hobo Odin; Thor, Loki paying Doctor Strange a visit?
"Thor: Ragnarok," the upcoming third installment in Marvel's Thor stand-alone series, is currently in production in Brisbane, Australia.
Recent snaps from the outdoor shooting locations of "Ragnarok" have revealed stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Tom Hiddleston (Loki), as well as director Taika Waititi, working hard on the streets of Brisbane, which is standing in for New York City, one of the settings for "Ragnarok."
One of the most interesting recent snaps taken from the "Ragnarok" shoot seems to confirm the long-held rumor that says that Thor's father, the mighty Norse god Odin (Anthony Hopkins), was banished by his adoptive son, Loki, to Midgard, where he has been roaming the streets as someone who looks like a hobo, warning humans about the coming apocalypse.
In a photo taken by photojournalist Glenn Hunt earlier this week in Brisbane, Hopkins is seen hamming it up on the set of "Thor: Ragnarok." But instead of his glimmering golden suit and red cape, Hopkins (as Odin) wears the dirty and mismatched clothing of a vagrant.
The actor's clothing, paired with the report that Thor and Loki will be heading to New York City in "Ragnarok," seems to point at the brothers teaming up to locate their father, whose help they will need in the battle against new villain Hela (Cate Blanchett).
Meanwhile, in another on-set snap from the "Ragnarok" shoot, an address card carried around by Hemsworth appears to have revealed the introduction of another Marvel superhero in the "Thor" franchise.
On Monday, Aug. 22, Daley Pearson, the writer who played the part of Barry in the short comedic "Thor" clip Waititi showed at this year's Comic-Con, posted a bunch of snaps from the Brisbane shooting locations, and one of them revealed that Thor and Loki may be paying an MCU doctor a house call in "Ragnarok."
In one of the photos posted by Pearson, Hemsworth holds a card with the address 177A Bleeker Street printed on it. As avid Marvel fans know, this is the address of Doctor Strange's (Benedict Cumberbatch) headquarters, which is also known as the Sanctum Santorum.
"Thor: Ragnarok" is set to premiere on Nov. 3, 2017.
