There are no confirmed reports yet regarding the premiere date and possible storyline of the upcoming third season of "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3. However, the rumors are rife that Season 3 will follow the original contents of the "Tokyo Ghoul" manga series. If this is the case, then the fans can expect Ken Kaneki being introduced as the fearsome One-Eyed King, just like what happened in the later chapters of the manga.

According to a report from Yibada, "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 will pick up on the events in the most recent chapters of the manga series, particularly the 86th chapter. Those who have already read the said chapter would recall that the series' lead player, Kaneki, asking Eto Yoshimura to be the One-Eyed King. Kaneki may have the rights to make this request, as he successfully defeated Kishou Arima that led the CCG in the battle against the ghouls.

The preceding chapters have featured the intense fight, including the time when the CCG attacked the Anteiku, a cafe that serves as a headquarter for the kind and peace-loving ghouls. Therefore, the setting of "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 is expected to begin two years after the events of the previous episode.

If the third season will indeed follow the events of the manga, it may also show the great battles and confrontations between the Aogiri Tree and the CCG. The Aogiri Tree is a special terrorist organization whose members are blood-thirsty ghouls. In return, CCG will form a more powerful organization called "The Quinx Squad" to strengthen their campaign to eradicate all ghouls in the world. Interestingly, this group will be composed of humans that has the powers of the ghoul, giving them an advantage against the evil ghouls during the battles.

It was recently cleared out that the rumored winter or late 2016 release date of "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 is not true. As of the meantime, there is no official announcement yet from Funimation regarding the ongoing prodiction of the third season, more so its expected premiere date.
