'Total War: Warhammer' DLC release date, news & update: Bretonnia Race Pack coming in February; Grombrindal teased
Creative Assembly, the developer behind "Total War: Warhammer," has announced that a new edition of the video game will drop in February 2017 and it will include a new playable race called Bretonnia.
The video game developer made the announcement via Facebook on Tuesday, Nov. 8. According to Creative Assembly, Bretonnia is a feudal kingdom with "a contrast of lowly peasant masses and proud knightly orders." In this new race, players can choose between three playable characters: the Legendary Lords King Louen Leoncoeur, Alberic of Bordeleaux and the Fay Enchantress.
On its Facebook post, Creative Assembly explained that the reason Bretonnia didn't come out this year, as they had previously announced, was that they took the opportunity to repackage the game and include more content for the new Race Pack. The new content reportedly includes a third Legendary Lord and additional units.
"Total War: Warhammer" owners will be able to receive the Bretonnia Race Pack as a free download from the Steam store. However, the developer noted that "The Prince of Altdorf" novella by "Total War" writer Andy Hall, which comes with the game's "Old World Edition," will only be available with physical copies of "Warhammer."
According to the post, more details about the Warhammer Fantasy Battles Race will be shared in the coming year.
Aside from the announcement regarding the new Bretonnia Race Pack, Creative Assembly also teased that the "Wood Elf" downloadable content (DLC) could drop before Christmas. In its Facebook post, the developer indicated that the next major DLC expansion and the next Free-LC for "Total War: Warhammer" is due before Christmas. Creative Assembly also said that "it is growing now" and that news about the DLC should come out soon.
In October, a new "Total War: Warhammer" trailer featuring the elusive Grombrindal was released.
The character, who is also known as the White Dwarf, is said to come with a set of new quests that will be unlocked as he levels up. Grombrindal, the "hero from the time of legends," will reportedly be available as a free update sometime in 2017.
