'True Detective' season 3 renewal news: latest update hints show will be back
HBO appears to be making progress with regard to the development of "True Detective" season 3, which has been in a limbo for a while now.
The network's president of programming, Casey Bloys, recently gave an update on the crime-drama anthology's return as well as that of its other hit show, "The Night Of" at the Television Critics Association press tour.
The HBO executive said that he is "hopeful" seeing that "True Detective" creator Nic Pizzolatto is "closing in on ideas" that he is "excited" about much like the folks behind "The Night Of," Richard Price and Steven Zallian.
Bloys said back in November last year that Pizzolatto was thinking about ideas for "True Detective" season 3. It looks like the creative genius has found one.
This goes to show that concrete measures are being taken to make "True Detective" season 3 happen. This update certainly is more promising than the one from last December that came from Matthew McConaughey.
The actor has, of course, been part of the drama in the first and critically acclaimed season of "True Detective," in which he played Rustin Cohle.
In an appearance at "The Rich Eisen Show" last year, McConaughey said that "The ball's not advanced at all" with the development.
"I've talked to the creator Nic Pizzolatto who's taking a little break from it. If that thing was written well and it came up again, I wouldn't hesitate for a second," he went on to say.
From the looks of it, "True Detective" season 3 is very likely to happen. It might take a while as it is still in early stages, but the future looks bright for fans of the series.
The show's first run with Woody Harrelson and McConaughey received praises from both viewers and critics. The second one that featured Rachel McAdams, Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn and Taylor Kitsch, was marred with poor reviews, which led the show's fate up in the air. However, it looks like "True Detective" is yet to see its end.
