'UnReal' season 3 confirmed ahead of season 2 premiere; Lifetime programming head calls series 'rare'
"UnREAL" has been confirmed for a third season even before its season 2 premiere. Following this update, fans are wondering what will be in store for the Lifetime dark comedy series. The upcoming season will be a 10-season run which will premiere in 2017.
Upon this renewal of the series, the network's head of programming, Liz Gateley, referred to the show as a "rare" series.
"It not only reflects culture, but pushes culture forward by creating television's first female antihero. The overwhelming fan and critical reaction set the bar incredibly high, but the writers and executive producing team, coupled with the outstanding performances by Shiri Appleby and Constance Zimmer, have taken the second season to even greater creative heights," said Gateley.
In the meantime, Constance Zimmer, who plays Quinn, assured fans that the show will be as zany as ever in the second season. She further stated that the goal was not to outdo the first season but to go on with whatever made it great when it started. The actress pointed out that the feeling was unanimous among those involved in the show, whether in front or behind the cameras.
The drama series also stars Shiri Appleby as Rachel who, along with Quinn, is a producer on a fictional "The-Bachelor-like" dating show called "Everlasting." These two pretty much do everything in their power to bring drama to the show and thus ensure its ratings.
"UnREAL" season 2 is said to star Ioan Gruffudd who will play John Booth, a billionaire in the tech industry. Another tack the show will take is to be part of a race in media through Darius Hill (B.J. Britt), the "Everlasting" show's newest bachelor who is a professional football player as well as the very first searchee of color. The new season will also feature a new group of female contestants who hope to win him over.
"UnREAL" season 2 premiered Monday, June 6 on Lifetime.
