The season 2 finale of "UnReal" ended with a bang, literally, after Jeremy (Josh Kelly) maneuvered things in order to have Coleman (Michael Rady) and Yael (Monica Barbaro) killed in a car crash. He did so in order to keep "Everlasting" from getting canceled, as well as to save himself, Rachel (Shiri Appleby), Quinn (Constance Zimmer), and Chet (Craig Bierko) from going to jail for supposedly covering up/perpetrating Mary's suicide during the maiden season.

There was a seeming intent to wrap up as many main storylines as possible in the season 2 finale, which only earned the series more flak from people who have been questioning the decisions of the showrunners, made manifest in the 10 episodes of the sophomore season.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, co-creator Sarah Gertrude Shapiro and executive producer Stacy Rukeyser said that in the upcoming season, the plan to "slow down" the story. They likewise answered why the ending was as it was—Coleman and Yael possibly murdered.

"In terms of Coleman and Yael ... we think of it is as a completely rogue move that Jeremy went out and did. When we were following that story through of what Coleman had done to Rachel and what he became, we have to admit there was kind of a deliciousness to that," Rukeyser told THR.

Concerning Jeremy's actions, Rukeyser said moving forward to season 3, they would be dealing with "what he's done, whether or not he feels it's what Rachel wanted him to do, Rachel's horror at it," adding that in a way, what he did "save the day in a way."

Meanwhile, in an interview with TV Line, Zimmer said her character, Rachel, and Jeremy would be dealing with the consequences of the season 2 finale's events, but whether Jeremy would face up to his crimes or go into hiding remains to be seen.

"Somehow, somebody has to get in trouble," she said. "I don't know how that's going to happen or if that's going to happen, but we have to have consequences for our actions."

The third season of "UnReal" would air in 2017 on Lifetime.
