'Vikings' Season 3 Spoilers, Plot News: Tension Rises as Wanderer Arrives in Kattegat
In its last episode on Thursday, 10/9c, on History Channel, "Vikings" saw Harbard (Kevin Durand) the wanderer coming to the village of Kattegat and bewitching its women.
The upcoming episodes are going to reveal what he will do as Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) and the other men are away fighting. The arrival of the wanderer, his motives and the problems brewing between Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård) and Ragnar will feature in the next few episodes.
The synopsis of the next episode shows that much focus will be on the relationship between Floki and Ragnar. The problems between them are set to surface when the Vikings and Wessex forces return to camp after their victory. This will lead to Floki questioning the alliance between Ecbert (Linus Roache) and the Vikings. According to the synopsis, he will also question the undue influence that he sees Athelstan (George Blagden) wielding over Ragnar.
As for Princess Kwenthrith (Amy Bailey), she is going to dabble more in politics after the outcome of the battle at the Hill of the Ash in Mercia.
Meanwhile, in Hedeby, Kalf (Ben Robson), who was last seen sneakily making off with Lagertha's (Katheryn Winnick) title of Earl, will invite visitors from the past.
Kalf's role in the season is going to become more important. Discussing his character, Robson noted that he is ambitious and wants to transform himself into someone important just like how Ragnar made the transition from farmer to king.
Lagertha's attraction to Ecbert will also be dwelt on in the upcoming episodes. Series creator Michael Hirst stated recently that although Lagertha finds Ecbert interesting, she doesn't really trust him. However, Athelstan (George Blagden) is not like Lagertha and he seems to trust Ecbert more even though Judith (Jennie Jacques) has come to realize that he is hiding something.
Meanwhile, Harbard is set to stay in Kattegat. Questions are going to be raised about his identity and why he has come. However, as per the last episode, it looks likely that Harbard will also bring lots of problems to Kattegat, which the Seer could have foreseen.
