Brock Lesnar has announced that he is returning to professional wrestling and rejoining the WWE. He made the announcement during a recent interview with ESPN's "Sports Center" where he said he would not be returning anymore to mixed martial arts and the UFC circuit.

Lesnar said it was not about the money anymore. He disclosed how Lorenzo Fertitta, the chairman of the UFC, even tried to double the amount of his previous contract if he renewed it when he informed him that he was returning to the WWE. He said he declined the offer.

Lesnar is due to feature in Wrestlemania 31 which takes place this weekend in Santa Clara, California.

Before his latest announcement, there was speculation that Lesnar would allow his professional wrestling contract to lapse and instead return to the UFC. But this did not happen as he chose to sign a new contract with the WWE on Monday.

Lesnar, 37, described how the "fighter in me wants to continue, but at this stage in my life, it is not just about me anymore," indicating that his wife and children had something to do with his decision.

He also revealed that even though he is only 37 years old, some days he felt like he was already 80, "because of all the things I experienced."

But he said he still considered himself fortunate for all that he accomplished during his career, adding that he did not want to "go backward."

Lesnar lost his heavyweight championship belt to Cain Velasquez in October 2010. Previous to that loss, he had been struggling to overcome a digestive disease called diverticulitis.

Following his loss to Velasquez, Lesnar had surgery to remove 12 inches of his colon and then subsequently returned to the UFC 141 in 2011. He lost to Alistair Overeem when he was knocked out in the first round.

Wrestlemania 31 has a start time of 7 p.m. ET on Sunday and can be watched on TV on PPV or online through live stream by clicking here.
