Xbox head Phil Spencer somewhat hinted recently what the price of the Xbox Project Scorpio console would be.

Ever since the reveal of Microsoft's Xbox Project Scorpio at the E3 conference this year, the upcoming console has been dubbed as a "super-powered" console and a premium product. Hence, such a description led many tech enthusiasts and Xbox supporters to believe that Microsoft would be pricing the much-awaited gaming console at the price range of a high-end gaming PC.

However, in an interview with AusGamers recently, Spencer made it very clear that he wants the system to be at the price-point of gaming consoles and not at the level of a high-end gaming PC.

"I want Scorpio to be at a console price-point," Spencer revealed. "I'm not trying to go and compete with a high-end rig," he added

In the same interview, Spencer explained that the Xbox Scorpio Project is not about its absolute teraflops but about balance. It is a platform will balance memory bandwidth, GPU power, and the player's actual performance and perceived entertainment value in using the console. The Xbox Project Scorpio was intended to strike a balance between the console's components and the enjoyment of the gamers.

According to University Herald, the Xbox Scorpio will be equipped with 6 teraflops of power, 8 CPU cores, 320 GB memory bandwidth and true 4K resolution. All these features and more will reportedly gear up Xbox Scorpio toward becoming the most powerful gaming system yet.

Things have been looking up for Microsoft on the game side of things this 2016, according to MCV. Though Xbox One sales have not been mediocre, it has failed to out-sell the massively popular PlayStation 4. However, the Xbox has reportedly gained some momentum going into the end of the year. Add to it the anticipation for the upcoming Xbox Scorpio next year, Microsoft may just gain a considerable advantage over its competitors.

The Xbox Project Scorpio is slated to be released during the holidays in 2017.
