Rumor has it that the well-received Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will be launching a flat-screen variant of the phone but with a lower price tag. Although some rumors are founded on some truth, this particular rumor, however, will just have to stay as another unfounded speculation.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is the current flagship phone of the Chinese brand, which has so far received high praises for its high-powered specs and reliable performance. According to GameNGuide, the Xiaomi was so well-made that it is capable of competing against the Meizu Pro 6S, the Samsung Galaxy S7, and the Apple iPhone 7, among others.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 has a dual-curved 5.7-inch OLED display and a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. It is also equipped with a Snapdragon 821 chipset, 6 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of internal storage. It also has a 22-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front shooter. It is also powered by a 4070 mAh battery.

However, because of its popular dual-curved screen, the price of the smart phone is quite steep. Hence, some smartphone users were hopeful that the company would be unveiling a flat screen variant of the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 which will be cheaper than its existing counterpart.

Unfortunately, as reported by Phone Arena, the company has officially denied that a flat screen Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will be developed and released. This announcement was told by Xiaomi's marketing director Zang Zhiyuan through the company's official blog.

Creating a more affordable version of what is already a low-margin product is not exactly a viable business move for a company like Xiaomi. Hence, smartphone users and fans of Xiaomi's products who were holding on to the possibility of a flat screen counterpart of the Mi Note 2 must now make peace with the fact that it certainly won't be happening anytime soon, if at all.
