As the upcoming release of "xXx: The Return of Xander Cage" nears, a first-look clip has been released, showing Vin Diesel reprising his role as Xander Cage, contending against "Ip Man" and "Rogue One" star Donnie Yen.

The brief video clip shows Diesel chasing after Yen as they ride on motorbikes in a scene that looks as if it came from the "Fast and Furious" franchise. As Diesel rides fast to chase after Yen, their motorbikes are seen to turn into water skis in mid-air, just when their vehicles are about to touch the waters.

The third "xXx" film follows Diesel's character, Xander Cage, a former athlete that became a National Security Agency spy. Aside from Yen, Diesel is set to appear alongside returning cast member Samuel L. Jackson who portrays NSA agent Augustus Gibbons.

According to Independent, "The Return of Xander Cage" also tapped into an assortment of recognizable talents from the world of US television. "Orange is the New Black" actress Ruby Rose, "The Vampire Diaries" actress Nina Dobrev, and "Game of Thrones" actor Rory McCann (a.k.a. The Hound) will also be appearing in the film.

It can be recalled that the first "xXx" movie was released back in 2002, following the success of Diesel's "Fast and the Furious" movie in 2000. A sequel titled "State of the Union" was released starring Ice Cube since Diesel was not able to reprise his role due to other filming commitments. However, the sequel without Diesel's participation proved to be poorly received critically and financially.

The first trailer of "xXx: The Return of Xander Cage" was released earlier this year and was viewed 100 million times in the first two days it was made available online, which is proof of Diesel's star power and the "Fast and Furious" film franchise's influence.

"xXx: The Return of Xander Cage" is scheduled to hit the theaters on Jan. 20.
