ZenFone 2 vs Samsung Galaxy S5 Review: Specs, Features and Price Comparison - Asus Phablet Bigger, Better Price

While the Galaxy S5 is not a phablet, it is a great flagship phone from Samsung and it compares well with the recently launched ZenFone 2 from Asus which has a bigger screen and a metal body.

The Asus ZenFone 2 comes with premium design, something which the Galaxy S5 lacks. It has an aluminum body and a curved back that makes it easy to hold. As for the Galaxy S5 it has a plastic build, a faux metal plastic band around its rim and a dimpled plastic back panel.

Comparing their displays, the Asus ZenFone 2 has a bigger 5.5-inch IPS screen with a resolution of1080 x 1920 pixels and a pixel density of 403 pixels per inch. The Galaxy S5, on the other hand, has a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a pixel density of 432 pixels per inch. As for the screen-to-body ratios, the Galaxy S5 has 69.6 percent while the ZenFone 2 has 70.1 percent.

As for their platforms, the Galaxy S5 has a Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chipset, Quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 CPU and Adreno 330 GPU. The ZenFone 2 comes with an Intel Atom Z3580 chipset, Quad-core 2.3 GHz CPU and PowerVR G6430 GPU. In terms of RAM, the Galaxy S5 has 2 GB while the ZenFone 2 will be available with either 2GB of RAM or 4GB.

Comparing their cameras, the ZenFone 2 has a 13 megapixel camera with autofocus and dual-LED flash, while the Galaxy S5 has a 16 megapixel camera with phase detection autofocus and a LED flash. Both devices have microSD slots. The ZenFone 2 supports the addition of 64 GB external memory while the Galaxy S5 supports up to 128 GB.

Finally comparing their prices, the 16 GB ZenFone 2 with 2 GB RAM will sell for $199 without any contract when it is released in March. The Galaxy S5 costs $199 with a two-year contract.
