Fiat Chrysler Automobiles recently announced that the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon will break cover at the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) in April. While the automaker initially had a strategy to slowly tease and introduce the high-performance muscle car, a newly released video has seemingly revealed the upcoming Dodge Demon in all its glory.

According to Motor Trend, Dodge's new halo car was spotted in a video featuring Vin Diesel on the set of "The Fate of the Furious," the eighth installment in the action film franchise, while talking to crew members. In the video, two examples of the rumored Dodge Demon can be seen with a silver and black color scheme. The splitter, roof, fenders and wheels are also previewed.

It seems that featuring the Dodge Demon in the upcoming action car-centric film is a wise marketing strategy as "The Fate of the Furious" is slated to arrive in theaters on April 12, the same week as the muscle car's official debut at NYIAS.

Even with the sneak peek at the Dodge Demon, not much has been revealed regarding its technical specifications. However, it has been teased to be faster than the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, whose 6.2-liter HEMI® V8 engine already delivers a whopping 707 horsepower and 650-pound-feet of torque.

The latest teaser titled "Reduction" reveals that the upcoming Dodge Demon will be 200 pounds lighter than the Hellcat, which is at 4,493 pounds. According to Car and Driver, this seemingly suggests that adjustments will be made on the muscle car's suspension, steering, brakes and wheels. Lighter components are also expected to be used inside the cabin. Weight reduction will significantly contribute to higher performance numbers for the Dodge Demon. After all, the all-new muscle car is designed for a specific customer in mind.

"Most cars attempt to be everything to everybody. Then there are the rare few that revel in a single objective, rendering them totally irresistible to a subculture. The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is conceived, designed and engineered for a subculture of enthusiasts who know that a tenth is a car and a half second is your reputation," said Tim Kuniskis, head of Passenger Car Brands — Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and FIAT — FCA North America.

The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is scheduled to make its NYIAS debut on April 12.
