"Agent Carter" season 3 could still happen, with lead star Hayley Atwell and Marvel Television both willing to continue the story of Peggy Carter. However, this is just half of the job as finding a new home for the series is another story.

A few days back, Atwell expressed her interest to reprise her role as Agent Carter in a revival of the show in any form. She suggested a TV-movie special for the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent will be great.

Marvel TV chief Jeph Loeb shared the same level of eagerness but pointed out that they can't push through an "Agent Carter" season 3 or a TV-movie unless they find a network to bring it to the audience.

"What Marvel Television does every day is it connects with our partners — ABC, FX, Fox, Netflix, Freeform — and they tell us when they would like it," Loeb told TVLine.

Of note is that Netflix has already decided against "Agent Carter" to its lineup of Marvel shows despite the intense campaigning of fans, explaining that they want "truly original brands to own."

Ultimately, Loeb said that they are willing to do "Agent Carter" season 3 or any form of return for the character, but unless a network picks it up, it won't happen. But he promised that they will give the best output should it get the green light.

Loeb also thanked Atwell for her support and display of enthusiasm to do "Agent Carter" season 3 despite her other commitments such as the new ABC show "Conviction."

"I'm incredibly grateful that Hayley has been bold enough to say that she would love to play that part again. So... 'I hope so' is the short answer," Loeb stated.

In his interview with Business Insider, Loeb revealed that ABC cancelled the series without discussions. The Mary Sue says it is likely because the show, despite having dedicated fans, slipped in the ratings and viewership department.
