Many Apple fans were disappointed when the Cupertino-based company decided to skip the iPad Air 3 during their annual Worldwide Developers Conference or WWDC 2016 event in the middle of June. However, fans are keeping it positive with high hopes that Apple will still release a new iPad Air model anytime soon. According to the latest reports, there is a big possibility that the company is gearing up for a 2017 release of the device.

The recent drop in price of the current iPad Air 2 has created several speculations that it could signal the arrival of the iPad Air 3. However, there are also rumors suggesting that the recent price cut of the current model could also be a good indication that Apple will finally kill the iPad Air series.

Previous reports coming from various online publications suggested that Apple is planning to eliminate the iPad Air line from their product list. However, this has yet to be confirmed by the company.

Many Apple fans have been waiting for the new iPad Air model since October 2015. It has been a favorite subject of numerous speculations all over the Internet. Nonetheless, despite the rampant rumors coming from fans and tech observers, Apple has remained silent.

According to a report by The BitBag, they have reasons to believe that Apple will postpone the arrival of the highly anticipate tablet from September 2016 to early 2017. However, the publication did not dismiss the possibility that the iPad Air 2 could be the last model of the series. There are speculations saying that Apple will release a new tablet in 2017; however, it will simply be call as "iPad."

Meanwhile, many fans believe that Apple is waiting for Microsoft to announce the Surface Pro 5 before they launch a new tablet to compete with the device.

As of the moment, fans will have to wait for Apple to release an official statement with regard to iPad Air 3.
