DC Comics fans are in for a major treat when The CW's four DC-based superhero series returns in fall.

According to "Arrow" star Stephen Amell, the network is putting together an epic four-night crossover event featuring DC superheroes Green Arrow (Amell), The Flash (Grant Gustin), Supergirl (Melissa Benoist), and the Legends of Tomorrow.

The four-show crossover, the first of its kind, will be made possible by Supergirl's move to The CW from CBS. In its upcoming second season, "Supergirl" will join "Arrow," "The Flash," and "Legends of Tomorrow" on the network, where it will be logistically easier for the four shows to interact.

During a panel at Wizard World Philadelphia last week, Amell spoke about the upcoming major event, saying, as quoted by Comic Book, "I think what we'll end up seeing is one giant four-night crossover."

The actor admitted that he doesn't know how the network will manage to shoot a crossover involving four different shows, given that "this is kind of an unprecedented moment in terms of the history of network television."

Nonetheless, he remains optimistic that the crossover will push through. "[O]bviously Supergirl is in a little bit of a different universe, but we can fix that," he said. "That's one line of dialogue and it's all fixed. So I would suspect Oliver will be meeting Supergirl at some point."

"All I want to see is Supergirl fly and David Ramsey's reaction to it," Amell teased.

The "Arrow" star's announcement about the DC four-night crossover echoes a statement made by The CW president Mark Pedowitz in May. During a conference call with the press, Pedowitz said, as quoted by Variety, "[O]ur annual crossover event this fall [will] be the biggest one ever."

Meanwhile, TVLine reports that a new villain inspired by a character from the crime drama "The Wire" will be introduced in the upcoming fifth season.

According to the outlet, the villain will be "loosely inspired" by Stringer Bell, the fictional drug kingpin played by "Pacific Rim" actor Idris Elba in "The Wire." The new baddie, described as a "ruthless crime lord," has been given the tentative name of Anton Church.

The fifth season of "Arrow" will air in fall.
