'Assassin's Creed 5' release date, latest news & update: Game not coming next year
It appears that "Assassin's Creed 5" might not see the light of day next year as developer Ubisoft is now looking at a 2018 launch instead.
In an interview with GameSpot, chief executive officer Yves Guillemot said that they might have delayed the next installment of the beloved action-adventure video game franchise, but for a good reason.
"What we saw in the development of the next [Assassin's Creed] was that we had an opportunity to take it to another level. So we said we'll take all the time it takes to make the experience fantastic," he explained.
"It was feasible because we have other games. There's a huge potential in this game to revolutionise the IP, so we said, 'Let's make sure we change our model so we have more time and that we can bring back a greater experience,'" he continued.
He promised that the franchise will be back with "Assassin's Creed 5" only "when it's ready." With that said, a specific release date is yet to be designated.
However, Ubisoft appears to be shooting for a 2018 launch. With all that said, fans will have to wait longer than expected to get their hands on "Assassin's Creed 5."
The delay was done in the name of making the game better, which will promise fans a much better game that it is worth of the longer wait.
The focus of Ubisoft at the moment is its upcoming new game "For Honor," which will be released next year. This should take up most of the studio's time.
The gap between "Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag" and "Assassin's Creed 5" is definitely the longest fans have waited for the game.
Ubisoft used to release new iterations every year. This changes in the upcoming "Assassin's Creed" so there is greater expectation that the game will be much stellar than its predecessors.
