"Avengers: Infinity War" and the untitled fourth "Avengers" movie are supposed to feature a lot of characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) since it's going to be a crossover event. But how many of the characters are going to be in the films?

According to Movie Casting Call, a truckload of characters are going to appear onscreen, but one popular superhero is definitely missing. Where in the world is Spider-Man (Tom Holland)? Does this mean he won't join the rest of the heroes in their quest to defeat Thanos (Josh Brolin)?

ComicBook.com has pointed out that there's a chance that Spider-Man may still appear in a cameo role. However, the character's role may be a minor one if he's not part of early production. There's also a possibility that Sony and Marvel Studios are still negotiating a deal since their agreement is reportedly on a film-by-film basis.

CinemaBlend's Sean O'Connel believes the same thing, but he also notes that "Avengers: Infinity War" is going to take place in space, so Spider-Man will be out of his element and he may sit out this one.

It makes sense that Nebula (Karen Gillan) and Gamora (Zoe Saldana) should be part of the film since they are Thanos' adopted daughters. If those two are around, the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy shouldn't be far behind. Star-Lord/Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper), Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel) and Drax (Dave Bautista) will also appear in "Avengers: Infinity War."

Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) will be making her debut. Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Vision (Paul Bettany), Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) will also appear in the film. Benedict Wong will be reprising his role as Wong.

Interestingly, the Falcon (Anthony Mackie) is also missing from the list. "Avengers: Infinity War" is scheduled to premiere on May 4, 2018.
