"Battlefield 1" will officially hit the shelves in just a matter of weeks, and a new 12-minute playthrough of the campaign has been released.

The "Battlefield 1" campaign will have four distinct "war stories", each of which will center on a specific playable character and their own set of skills. In a new footage courtesy of YouTuber Westie, viewers will have a first look at the prologue. "What follows is frontline combat, you are not expected to survive." the text from the clip reads. Following the inevitable death of the initial character, the footage seems to jump over to the story of Dean Stevenson, a character who mans a tank located in the wasteland.

On other related news, the game's free "Battlelog" app will be undergoing a major overhaul this Fall. The software, which allows gamers to keep track of their "Battlefield" exploits, will have an upcoming update that changes the app's name to "Battlefield Companion." Other new features will also be added in the update, including a better interface that enables easier navigation of the app. Apart from supporting the latest installment "Battlefield 1," a Career section will be in the new profile. Moreover, users will now be able to compare stats with friends and customize their "Battlefield 1" character's loadout while on the go.

Set to be launched later this month, "Battlefield 1" is a first-person shooter video game developed by EA DICE and published by Electronic Arts. Despite its name, the game serves as the fourteenth installment in the "Battlefield" franchise. It is also the first main entry in the series since "Battlefield 4" in 2013 and EA's first World War I video game since the classic "Wings of Glory" in 1994.

"Battlefield 1" is scheduled to be released on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One worldwide on Oct. 21.
