A shooting outside of a concert venue leads to a string of gang-related incidents of violence in the upcoming episode of NBC's spinoff cop drama "Chicago P.D." season 4.

Titled "Big Friends Big Enemies," next week's episode will see a shooting lead to more violence. According to the official synopsis, a car plows through a crowd of concertgoers when a gunfire erupts out of nowhere. Lindsay (Sophia Bush) and Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) immediately arrive on the scene to investigate, but they are unsure of the suspect's motive. Out of concern that a terrorist group may be responsible, Voight (Jason Beghe) asks assistance from Homeland security, customs and the F.B.I.

While the investigation is ongoing, Burgess (Marina Squerciati) sees Atwater's (LaRoyce Hawkins) brother, Jordan (guest star Ahmad Nicholas Ferguson), in a place where he shouldn't be in. To find a lead, the team pulls some strings and use their connections within the city to bring peace in the community before more lives are lost.

In the previous episode, Platt (Amy Morton) was hell-bent on tracking down her father's assailant. Although she wanted to put justice into her own hands, Voight advised her to let the justice system take care of the perpetrator. Moving forward, Morton admitted she doesn't see a trial playing out. Her personality, however, will change a bit after her brush with death.

"I do think that, ultimately, this affects Platt's ability to be maybe a little more [empathetic]," she told TV Guide in a recent interview. "I think she's always sort of empathetic, but sometimes it takes her a long time to get there. I think maybe this event makes that journey a little shorter for her. That journey to empathy hopefully will take a matter of seconds rather than an entire episode. And she's rich now, so who knows what that means?

The fourth season of "Chicago P.D." airs every Wednesday night at 10 p.m. EST on NBC.
