Known for its wide range of musical numbers, "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" will have more interesting performances up ahead when season 2 returns to the small screen next month.

Season 1 left off with Rebecca Bunch (Rachel Bloom) finally having an intimate moment with her long-time crush Josh, but it only marks the beginning of more complications coming the female lead's way. She also decided to let the cat out of the bag by telling Josh that she moved across the country just to be with him.

Series co-creator Aline Brosh McKenna recently caught up with TV Line, and she hinted that a new opening credits sequence will be welcoming viewers for the upcoming season. "The credits sequences, for us, are the thematic thesis statements of the season," she explained. "Last year was all about denial. Last year was all about 'Josh just happens to live here." When pressed for further details, McKenna simply said the choreographer and songwriters "crushed it."

Meanwhile, Josh's ex-girlfriend Valencia won't take their break up lightly and like Rebecca, she might be the next "crazy ex-girlfriend" in the story. Valencia's portrayer, Gabrielle Ruiz has been promoted to series regular for season 2 which means she will have a bigger role in Rebecca and Josh's budding romance. There are speculations that she will become a wedge in their relationship.

In an interview, Ruiz mentioned that back when they were filming season 1, actress and co-creator Bloom felt sad about Valencia and Rebecca's short-lived friendship. Ruiz had the same sentiments and she remains hopeful about a possible reconciliation between the two characters.

Aside from dealing with her relationship woes, Rebecca's bout with her identity crisis continues in season 2. As a result, Rebecca's behavior will greatly influence the other characters and they will experience the same sort of issues as well. McKenna added that returnees from season 1 include actresses Tovah Feldshuh as Rebecca's mother and Audra Levine as a lawyer at Rebecca's law firm in New York.

"Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" Season 2 premieres on Friday, Oct. 21 at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
