"Daredevil" has finally received its green light for a third season, which fans of the show would be glad to find out. Marvel made the announcement via a Twitter post accompanied by a video clip featuring the Hell's Kitchen subway station.

On Thursday, July 21, Marvel tweeted, "Next stop: Hell's Kitchen. #Daredevil Season 3 is coming soon. #MarvelSDCC," which it confirmed later at San Diego Comic Con. No other details on the upcoming installment have been added to the announcement, though.

Fans had begun to despair that the Netflix series would ever get its third run. It was reported then that "Daredevil" season 3 would be pushed back until after the mini-series, "The Defenders," airs in 2017, although it was never really clear if there was any intention to bring back Drew Goddard's creation. Now that season 3 of "Daredevil" has been guaranteed, it could mean that it will be coming later than the anticipated spring 2017 run.

The video clip that teased the upcoming run of the show was hardly enough to satisfy the curiosity of eagerly awaiting viewers; however, it is speculated that Frank Castle a.k.a. The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) might not appear in season 3. It is expected that the character will soon have its own series. Castle was introduced in the last run of the series, along with Elektra Natchios (Elodie Yung).

"Daredevil" was not the only Netflix original series announced at the San Diego Comic Con. "Jessica Jones" was also renewed for a sophomore season while "Luke Cage," which was the obvious focus at the Comic Con, will be making its Netflix debut in September. "Iron Fist" will also embark on its maiden run sometime in 2017.

In the meantime, all these characters will be finding their way into "The Defenders" series, also slated for a 2017 release.

"Daredevil" season 3 has no definite premiere date as yet, but it is expected to arrive on the Netflix streaming service in 2017.
