'Dead By Daylight' beta news update: 'DBD' beta ends; game drops June 14
The beta for the upcoming video game "Dead by Daylight" has closed. Starting today, June 14, the asymmetrical multiplayer horror game will become available on Steam.
"The entity has been sated for now, and has closed the Dead by Daylight Beta," a message on the game's beta page reads. "On the behalf of everybody from Behaviour Interactive, we are very happy with the responses from everyone about the game, and didn't expect the player count we got at all! We look forward to releasing the game on the 14th June."
The beta, which was made available by the game's developers prior to its actual release, opened its doors for players every evening at 6 p.m. EST. Users were able to receive free beta keys whenever they "saved" the lives of other players in the game. Reddit users on the "Dead by Daylight" subreddit created a megathread for the beta, where players could interact, and it filled up with participants every night when the beta opened.
The "Dead by Daylight" beta featured the game's three playable killers: the Trapper, the Wraith, and the Hillbilly. All four survivors were also made available, along with one map. Beta keys were handed out to those who pre-ordered the deluxe edition of "Dead by Daylight," as well as those who kept tabs on the upcoming game via social media, YouTube, and Twitch.
According to Inverse, one of the things players are looking forward to most in "Dead by Daylight" is the game's take on the ultimate slasher film conundrum. As a survivor in a world populated by murderous psychos, do you focus on your own survival or do you attempt to help your friends escape, risking your own life in the process?
In "Dead by Daylight," players are rewarded for working together, but those who choose to do so can also take an "every man for himself" approach. There is an option as well to play the role of the killer, as PC Gamer noted.
"Dead by Daylight" drops Tuesday, June 14, on Steam.
