'Deadpool 2' release date news: Ed Skrein wants Taskmaster to be back for the sequel; crossover with X-Men to happen?

"Deadpool" became one of the highest-grossing R-rated films released this year, and due to its success, a sequel is currently underway. The premiere of "Deadpool 2" may be a year from now, but it's never too early to talk about the upcoming installment in the anti-hero franchise.

Since the production is still in its early stages, there is no word yet on new or old characters who will be on board. Actor Ed Skrein, who portrayed Ajax, recently caught up with IGN in which he mentioned a certain character who will probably make the sequel even more interesting.

"The Taskmaster is just you know, so fun," said Skrein. "To see Taskmaster and Wade Wilson/Deadpool together is so funny — watching them play in the Daniel Way collection they have these incredible riffs. He's a mercenary like Wade Wilson but he's a mercenary without morals. The only redeeming factor of Deadpool is his morals, right? Taskmaster does not have those morals so he back-stabs and stuff like that."

Bella Thorne previously expressed her interest in playing a female version of Deadpool, and another actress also announced that she'd be happy to be on board — Olivia Munn. She recently starred as Psylocke in "X-Men: Apocalypse," and the actress mentioned that it would be nice to have a Deadpool–X-Men crossover movie. "That would be a really cool thing to do," Munn told USA Today. "What he did with Deadpool was genius and I'm so excited for him. It would definitely be cool to see Deadpool and some of the other X-Men characters gather for an X-Force movie. I think that's what the whole world is coming to — everybody unites together, right? It's never just one character anymore. We all just become one movie."

The exact premiere date for "Deadpool 2" is yet to be announced, but the film is predicted to be released sometime in 2017.
