Is "America's Favorite Serial Killer" coming back to TV screens? Rumor has it that he will, with actor Michael C. Hall reprising his role in the hit series "Dexter."

According to reports, a continuation of "Dexter" is currently on the table. However, Showtime has not yet confirmed if it is indeed happening, or if a release date is on the horizon.

As of now, all fans of the show can do is speculate on how the story will take shape after Dexter left Miami for good. According to Cartermatt, if the show pushes through, Dexter needs to go back to Miami first so he can interact with the other characters he left there. Afterwards, the story should resolve if he goes to jail or not for his misdeeds. The finale ended with a scene where he is a lumberjack but it does not make sense for viewers, because even if he escapes everything, he still has to face his demons. This might be a good place to pick up the story.

A good percentage of the characters should return, along with the creative team who were involved in the production of the first four seasons because they were really the best ones. The romance aspect of the story should not be given much attention, instead, the story telling tricks like the one with Travis should have more emphasis.

In 2014, there have already been talks of a spinoff, and Hall seemed more than happy to do it. "I can't even wrap my mind around that. And it's all just theoretical until there is some sort of script reflecting somebody's idea of where it could possibly go. But it's hard for me to imagine what that would be. Yeah, as far as playing Dexter again for an undefined amount of time, that's a little daunting to consider. But doing another television series—there's a lot of amazing stuff on TV. I don't want to do that right away. But I wouldn't say never to that," he said via Huffingtonpost.
