'Fairy Tail' chapter 518 release date, news, spoilers: Will Erza defeat her mother in battle?

In the upcoming chapter of "Fairy Tail," Irene and Erza will have a mother–daughter faceoff, wherein Erza might come out as the victorious one. Meanwhile, Irene might be hiding something from Erza.

Previously, in "Fairy Tail" chapter 517, Irene went head-to-head with Wendy and was defeated by the latter with her mastery of enchantment magic.

Irene initially used enchantment magic to take over Wendy's body. But Wendy was able to possess Irene's body as well, enabling her to reverse Irene's enchantment magic on her body.

In chapter 518, the Master Enchantress will be battling against her own daughter, Erza.

Yibada predicts that Erza will be finding a new source of power that can help in defeating Irene. It is possible that Erza will summon a new armor or that she will tap into a source of reserve power with the help of Wendy, such as using the Third Origin Release. The spell is expected to unleash Erza's full potential that will enable her to defeat her mother.

Meanwhile, Irene's defeat from Wendy is suspicious because of her high skill in enchantment, according to Tripped Media.

Known as the Scarlet Despair, Irene proved how powerful she is many times, especially when she used Universe One magic that altered the whole Earthland's geographical structure.

It is speculated that Irene wanted to be defeated because of a secret that she is carrying. It is common in "Fairy Tail" that families show a front of pure evil to attain a certain goal. This happened before when Silver deceived his son, Gray, into thinking that he was actually Deliora. This motivated Gray to kill his father, which was what Silver really wanted to atone for what he thinks was his sin.

It is anticipated that a similar thing is happening with Irene. However, readers are advised to take this with a grain of salt since this is still pure speculation.
