Helen Mirren was recently announced as the latest newcomer in "Fast and Furious 8." The Oscar Award winner's role is being kept under wraps for now, although new details about it have emerged.

According to reports, Mirren will play the role of a former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) agent that will help the Toretto gang deal with Cipher (Charlize Theron), the main antagonist in the film.

However, there's no information to corroborate that report yet, although it appears that Mirren's character in "Fast and Furious 8" will be of great importance.

It appears that whoever Mirren will play, she might take part in action-packed race and car chase scenes in "Fast and Furious 8." After all, it was her one condition in joining the film, if her character will get driving scenes.

"I've always rather loved driving. I said, 'I'll be in it, but only if I'm allowed to drive if I do drive in it.' But we'll see. We'll see how it transpires," the actress told ELLE.

Mirren has always wanted to be in the "Fast and Furious" franchise. Back in 2014, the actress gushed about how much she loves to join the movies and even praised actor Vin Diesel.

"I'd love to be in a Fast and Furious movie. I keep putting feelers out. I'd love to do Fast and Furious. I love Vin Diesel as well. He doesn't understand, I think he's so cool," Mirren said.

Two years later, she books a role in "Fast and Furious 8." Mirren becomes the latest Hollywood A-lister to join the upcoming "Fast and Furious 7" sequel.

Other new faces to look forward to in "Fast and Furious 8" are Theron, Scott Eastwood and Kristofer Hivju. Kurt Russell will also reprise his role as Mr. Nobody.

The "Fast and Furious" franchise celebrates its 15th anniversary on June 22. "Fast and Furious 8" will be in cinemas April 14, 2017.
