Evangelist Franklin Graham took to social media to express his objection to the taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood, describing the abortion provider as a "Hitleristic organization."

In a Facebook post on Friday, Graham lamented that Planned Parenthood had received over $353 million from private donors and asked why Congress should provide the organization with another $550 million in government grants and reimbursements.

"Parenthood killed nearly one million babies in the womb—what a tragedy. Taxpayer dollars, withheld from American paychecks should never be used to fund a Hitleristic organization whose conduct many see as insidious, evil, unjust, and even criminal," Graham wrote.

"How do they keep on slaughtering little ones, and yet portray themselves as health clinics? Death is their prescription," he continued.

Graham called on both Democratic and Republican members of the U.S. Congress to cooperate with each other to end the practice of abortion. He also encouraged people to contact U.S. Senators and Representatives and tell them to stop funding Planned Parenthood.

In December 2015, Graham announced that he has resigned from the Republican Party after the GOP-led Congress passed a budget to continue funding for Planned Parenthood. His decision came after the release of undercover videos purportedly revealing that the abortion organization had been involved in selling baby parts from aborted fetuses.

"Seeing and hearing Planned Parenthood talk nonchalantly about selling baby parts from aborted fetuses with utter disregard for human life is reminiscent of Joseph Mengele and the Nazi concentration camps!" said Graham at the time. "That should've been all that was needed to turn off the faucet for their funding," he added.

Last month, a congressional investigation into the Planned Parenthood over its involvement in the sales of aborted baby parts concluded, and lawmakers suggested that the abortion organization should be stripped of taxpayer funding.

According to Life News, the new U.S. Congress is currently working on legislation that would defund the abortion provider and redirect tax dollars to community health clinics that do not perform abortions,

Sens. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) and James Lankford (R-Okla.) recently introduced a bill called the Protect Funding for Women's Health Care Act which would take away funding from Planned Parenthood and other abortion groups. The federal dollars would instead be used to fund more than 13,500 community health centers across the U.S. that provide a broader range of healthcare services to women.
