'Frozen 2' release date, plot rumors 2016: Story already in place? Kristen Bell teases writers 'found' the 'quality' story they want to tell
Writers are taking their sweet time in stitching together the story for "Frozen 2" making sure they meet the higher expectations for the sequel following the blockbuster success of the first film.
Cast member Kristen Bell, the voice of the adorkable Princess Anna, revealed in a recent appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" that recording has not started yet.
"They take a lot of time over there to just perfect it. It has to go through a lot of development to make sure it's exactly the story that needs to be told," Bell said.
Back in March, Bell revealed to Collider that "They've just written it and they're still doing tweaks." She even said that the recording will begin at that time, but her recent statement suggests it did not pan out.
"The story is great, and they exude quality," Bell teased during the interview about the "Frozen 2" plot, reiterating that the people working on the sequel are aiming for perfection.
The "Bad Moms" star added that "they wanted to figure out what story they needed to tell and what would be important and engaging and I think they found it."
There's no word on what "Frozen 2" will be all about, but rumors have it that a rivalry between Anna and Elsa (Idina Menzel) for the crown will form in the sequel.
This speculation started when Menzel spoke about Elsa meeting her doom in the sequel, although the remark was clearly made as a joke by the actress-singer.
Apart from coming up with a good story, another aspect of "Frozen 2" that doubles the pressure is the soundtrack. The first film made an LSS (last song syndrome) tune out of "Let It Go" and the song's popularity is clearly difficult to match.
Although "Frozen" was released in 2013, the song became so big that in the following years, many still had it stuck in their heads, and many other perform it and make a parody of it.
The song was definitely a huge factor that helped "Frozen" to resonate strongly with fans during the years that it did. The pressure to come up with bigger songs for "Frozen 2" is definitely high.
With regards to the release date, "Frozen 2" is expected to be in cinemas in 2018.
