The upcoming release of GoPro Hero 5 is surrounded by numerous rumors and speculations. According to reports, the next line of the GoPro Hero series will be released later this year. Apparently, the previous rumor of an early 2016 release did not materialize and now reports are saying that it is being pushed back for a Holiday release.

GoPro is currently working on the upcoming release of the Karma drone and it is believed to be released first before Hero 5 hits the market. According to some reports, the Karma might be the reason behind the Hero 5 delay. Since it's the company's first ever drone camera, it's expected that GoPro will make a big deal out of the release.

The Karma drone is said to hit the market "in the first half of 2016." There is still no official announcement from the company with regard to the details of the release but reports are saying that it would likely be in May or June. If the rumored timeline is correct, fans are expected to get their hands on the new GoPro Hero 5 by October.

If the rumors prove to be true, fans can definitely expect the Hero 5 before the year ends. The plan is to release the new action camera a few months after the roll out of Karma drone.

GoPro claimed that the Hero 5 is their best action camera so far.

"Later this year, we will introduce the most connected and convenient GoPro we have ever made, Hero 5," as announced by the company's CEO Nicholas Woodman in February.

Meanhwile, there are speculations that the first three models of the Hero series will be obsolete starting next month. This was apparently discussed during the GoPro's conference call late last year. Reports also suggest that the first ever action drone from the company will also be compatible with the current GoPro Hero 4 and the previous GoPro Hero 3/3+.

This year will be big for GoPro with two major releases.
