The highly anticipated "Grand Theft Auto" sequel is now rumored to be a huge blast from the past, that is if the latest reports would verify. It is expected that "Grand Theft Auto VI" will go vintage as it is going to be a prequel for a previous "Grand Theft Auto" game title, namely the "Vice City" series.

Earlier, it was reported that Rockstar Games has been considering different locations outside fo the United States to look for the new center of action for "GTA VI." A lot of popular locations were mentioned, including Tokyo City and London. However, it appears that the setting of the upcoming "GTA" sequel will not only be centered in a diverse location, but also in a different timeline.

If the London rumors verify, then it will not be the first time that "GTA" was set in the said Europea city. In fact, the very first "GTA" title happened in London with the 1961 time setting. However, the game was still under DMA Designs' management.

For "GTA VI," Neurogadget reported that the video game will be a prequel for the "Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories." Being a prequel, it will be set a few years before the events of the particular game title took place. The "Vice City Stories" was set in 1984, and if the rumors are correct, "Grand Theft Auto VI" will be set as far back as in the 1970's. Therefore, the yet-to-be-released "GTA" title is expected to feature vintage cars and fashion. Still, there is no confirmation from Rockstar yet regarding the theme or setting of "Grand Theft Auto VI."

Tech Radar reported that Rockstar sent representatives in different countries to study the potential "GTA VI" location. It was initially rumored that Rockstar has already chosen Tokyo City after the game studio sent representatives to the country. Apparently, "GTA VI" might not only feature Tokyo or London, but also a lot more locations. To make this possible, Rockstar is rumored to introduce the "World Map." It will allow the players to travel across the globe, with ease, although gamers think that the "World Map" might be too much for the next game title. Moreover, this would mean that the next "GTA" title will take up much memory space.

Rockstar has not yet confirmed their target release date for "Grand Theft Auto VI," although the rumors are rife that the next installment of the franchise will happen sometime between 2018 and 2020.  It will just in time for the anticipated launching of the next generation of home consoles, the Xbox Two and PlayStation 5.
