Many fans of the "Half-Life" series refuse to give up on the third installment. For loyal fans, "Half-Life 3" is still happening, despite the lack of updates from the game developer, Valve Corporation. According to the latest rumor, the game is said to come out with full VR support in 2018.

There are speculations coming from many fans and game observers that Valve will finally announce the next sequel of the first-person shooter video game at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in 2017. Apparently, the recent partnership between Valve and the Taiwanese tech company, HTC to produce VR systems includes the "Half-Life 3" project. However, this report has yet to be confirmed by both the game developer and HTC.

If rumors prove to be true, 2018 will be the year for many "Half-Life" fans to celebrate its release. Nonetheless, until Valve announces the development of the game, all reports will always be considered as rumors and speculations.

Meanwhile, there are also several fans who believe that "Half-Life 3" is not going to happen ever. Gabe Newell, Valve CEO, hinted during an interview in 2015 that the third installment may never happen as the company chooses to move forward without it.

"The only reason we'd go back and do like a super classic kind of product is if a whole bunch of people just internally at Valve said they wanted to do it and had a reasonable explanation for why," explained the Valve CEO in a report by Polygon. "But you know if you want to do another Half-Life game and you want to ignore everything we've learned in shipping Portal 2 and in shipping all the updates on the multiplayer side, that seems like a bad choice. So we'll keep moving forward. But that doesn't necessarily always mean what people are worried that it might mean."

As for now, fans will have to wait for the company to announce the game before making any assumptions.
