'House of Cards' Season 5 release date news: Set for March 2017? Final season may feature Frank Underwood's death

There are rumors that the upcoming fifth season of Netflix's political drama thriller "House of Cards" will be the series' final chapter. The character of President Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey), the reigning most powerful politician in the United States, will also finally meet his end.

According to the news website Yibada, "House of Cards" Season 5 will premiere in March 2017 instead of this year. This is contrary to the earlier reports that the fifth season will be released on Netflix just in time for the real time presidential elections in the United States. With this, the fans may have to wait for a few more months to see its return. 

The fourth season of "House of Cards" showed a lot of down moments for President Underwood. It even came to a point that an assassination plot against Frank almost succeeded and left him unconscious for several days. Also, aside from his actual political rivals, specifically in the much-coveted presidential seat in the White House, Frank's own wife, Claire Underwood, has also emerged to be his greatest enemy yet in the series. Unfortunately for the followers of the lead character, Season 5 may finally see Frank dying in the dangerous political world that he himself has created.

Australia Network News reported the possibility of Claire becoming the next president following the death of her husband. If this rumor verifies, Claire's evil plans of taking over the presidential office may succeed after all. It is rumored that Claire will be so ambitious that she will aim for the highest post in the government, and she will stop at nothing to get what she wants. She is also said to be willing to kill her own husband just to achieve her goal. However, these rumors must be taken lightly as there has been no official confirmation regarding the possible storyline of Season 5.
