Iron Man 4 release date, spoilers news 2016: Marvel sets 2020 premiere for new 'Iron Man' movie? Sequel may not involve Robert Downey Jr.

Iron Man is a very significant part of Marvel's world of superheroes, many are wondering if the studio will show more about the character with another solo movie. However, according to the latest rumors, if ever Marvel decides to continue Iron Man's story with "Iron Man 4," there is a possibility that Robert Downey Jr. will no longer reprise the role in the upcoming fourth installment.

It has been reported that "Iron Man 4" could hit the theaters in 2020. This is expected to happen after the anticipated explosive conclusion of MCU's Phase 3. The showing of the fourth "Iron Man" film might happen after the second half of "Avengers: Infinity War." Unfortunately for the fans of Robert Downey Jr. wearing the high-tech iron suit, the fourth installment may feature a new actor to play the role of the genius, playboy, and philanthropist character.

Still, all hope is not lost because Downey himself stated that he not yet closing his doors to play Iron Man in a fourth solo movie, Game N Guide reported. Specifically, he said that he is down to do one more movie before all is said and done. With proper negotiations and scheduling, the public can still see more of Downey Jr. as Tony Stark and Iron in a future solo movie.

Nevertheless, even without a solo Iron Man movie in the near term, Marvel fans can still see the actor donning the iron suit while fighting the forces of darkness in the upcoming Marvel feature films. It is expected that Iron Man will return together with the Earth's Mightiest Heroes for "Infinity War," where they are expected to fight the Mad Titan Thanos as they search for the most powerful energy source in the universe, the Infinity Stones.
