'Kingdom Hearts 3' release date: Expected announcement in winter; prologue game necessary to play first

"Kingdom Hearts 3" | Kingdom Hearts 3

Square Enix's action role-playing video game "Kingdom Hearts 3" is still out of sight. This year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) just finished and fans had hoped to score some details about it during the event. However, it did not happen and now many are wondering where the game is.

Square Enix was not totally missing in action though as they presented instead the prologue game "Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue." Fans were treated to a sneak peek of the game, which gave them hints as to what they can expect and what they will be playing with once it is released. Fans have been excited for the "Kingdom Hearts 3" but the creators of the game proved that the prologue is not to be ignored.

According to reports, co-director Tai Yasue revealed that fans must play "Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue" first before heading to the upcoming 11th installment in the "Kingdom Hearts" series. The reason is because the two games are connected to each other. Players will not be able to fully connect with the "Kingdom Hearts 3" if they don't go through the "Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue" first because, as explained by Yasue, the pre-game is the "key in understanding the storyline" that will follow in the next flagship title.

As to when "Kingdom Hearts 3" may possibly be released, it's still not known yet. It's a question that many have been seeking answers for but until today, there is no definite date of release. A report mentioned though that the E3 trailer that was released revealed that the next update for the game will be happening sometime in December.

It's not specified what will be unveiled but fans are crossing their fingers that it's going to be a Disney-themed world. Also, it has been said that Japan will be getting the game slightly earlier than the rest of the world. Fans will have to stay tuned to find out the release date of "Kingdom Hearts 3."
