'Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild' release date latest news 2016: trailers tease connection to 'Twilight Princess' and more

The new trailers for "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" have revealed some exciting details about the highly anticipated game.

For starters, one clip established the connection between "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" and "Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess," which Nintendo has heavily teased in the past while promoting the upcoming game.

This is through the inclusion of a half-man, half-bird adversary that appears to be the tangible version of the creatures etched on the walls of the Hyrule Castle Town in "Twilight Princess."

Additionally, the "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" trailer also features what is believed to be the same fountain that stands in the Hyrule Castle Town.

The fountain from the preview, however, has been wrecked after the Calamity Ganon wreaked havoc in the land, connecting the two games again.

It is believed that "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" is set on a timeline not too far away, if not overlapping with that of the timeline in "Twilight Princess."

The trailer also showed Link in possession of the Master Sword, the weapon showed in the trailer released during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). It will be interesting to know how the hero got hold of it.

The clips also showed that Link might get allies out of some non-playable characters (NPCs) in "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" as there are those who are fending off the same enemies he has.

However, it is to be pointed out that in the clips showing these NPCs in action, it was not shown that Link is actually on the same battlefield as they do.

Other exciting stuff that eagle-eyed fans noticed is the Statue of the Goddess, which is expected to play an important role in "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild."

More importantly, the trailers appeared to have shown a glimpse of Zelda in the game. Her face was not shown, only her neck and below. She wore a blue dress and a Sheikah slate on her hands. Fans can get a good look at the 52-second mark of the trailer below.

"Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" will be released sometime next year.
