As per the extended trailer, season 2 will pick up right where season 1 left off. It will be recalled that during the season 1 finale, Hourman or Rex Tyler (Patrick J. Adams) arrived after the Legends team saved the day from Vandal Savage (Casper Crump). He didn't waste time warning the team of their impending doom.

However, as seen in the trailer, which is shown below, Hourman had with him members of the Justice Society of America (JSA), which, if earlier spoilers for the series are to be believed, will play major roles in the upcoming installment of the series. Aside from Hourman, the clip shows Obsidian (Lance Henriksen) who can control shadows, cosmic staff wielder Stargirl (Sarah Grey), Commander Steel/Henry Heywood (Matthew MacCaull) who is the grandfather of Citizen Steel/Dr. Nate Heywood (Nick Zano), and Dr. Mid-Nite (Kwesi Ameyaw), the blind superhero.

According to reports, the good guys will be going up against a band of villains, the Legion of Doom, that includes Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman), Reverse-Flash (Matt Letscher), and Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller). Season 2 will also see the Legends team going up against a group of villains called the Dominators in a major crossover episode that will feature fellow DC heroes Supergirl (Melissa Benoist), the Flash (Grant Gustin), and Arrow (Stephen Amell), as per Entertainment Weekly.

Episode 1, which is airing on Thursday and titled "Out of Time," will show Dr. Nate Heywood making a shocking discovery that prompts him to contact Oliver Queen (Amell) for help in locating members of the Legends team that have been scattered about. As Den of Geek reports, once reunited, the Legends team will continue to protect the timeline from unusual changes to history that ultimately lead to disastrous results.

The team's first mission is to go back to 1942 to protect no less than Albert Einstein from being kidnapped just before the Nazis try to eliminate New York City from the map with a nuclear bomb. Apparently, the premiere episode will also see Ray (Brandon Routh) and Sara (Caity Lotz) banding together to face Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough), Sara's nemesis.

"Legends of Tomorrow" season 2 episode 1, "Out of Time," premieres Thursday, Oct. 13, at 8 p.m. on The CW.
