'Limitless' season 2 release date news update: Show could be cancelled for good
A lot of fans were distraught when the TV adaptation of "Limitless" was canceled after one season. A lot of hopes continued when there were talks of the show getting picked up by Netflix or Amazon. But that was months ago and it looks like a second season may not make it to the audience.
Netflix has had a rep for becoming the savior of shows that have been cancelled on television. It was responsible for the revival of "Arrested Development" after it was canceled for years and fans hung on to the same hope for "Limitless."
Shows get a possibility of revival when numbers project that a lot of people watch it via the streaming service. If the figures are good, Netflix could eventually pick up the series for another season. By the looks of it, the numbers aren't really doing any good for "Limitless."
Showrunner Craig Sweeney even offered an update on the second season. He wrote, "Netflix explained that they are not confident with the complicated plot of the series which is why they are not inclined to pick up the show."
Some fans had hoped that Bradley Cooper, star of the original "Limitless" movie and executive producer of the show, was going to find a way to get the TV adaptation renewed for a second season. He was said to have been pitching it to several networks, but with his increasingly busy schedule, it looks like he won't be able to accomplish anything.
Cooper is busy at work with his movie "A Star is Born." The movie will be the first that Cooper has directed and it will also be the first movie that will feature Lady Gaga as the main star. Some fans have been disappointed with this decision but this is just the way the business works.
Some fans are still holding out for a second season of "Limitless" and only time will tell if they will eventually get what they want.
