Michael Schumacher health condition news update: F1 hero is 'reacting' to treatment, says former Ferrari president

It's been more than two years already since the ski accident of F1 driver Michael Schumacher happened in December 2013. Until now, the German racing driver is still struggling to get back on his feet and regain his health. Yet according to his ex-boss and close friend, former Ferrari president Luca Di Montezemolo, Schumacher could make it through his difficult situation.

Express UK stated in a report that Di Montezemolo gave an update on his friend's health. He said that the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year awardee is "reacting" to treatment. He did not elaborate further on his statement but he declared that Schumacher's strength will aid him in recovering.

"I know how strong he is. I'm sure that thanks to his determination, which will be crucial, he will come out from this very, very difficult situation. And I really hope," said Di Montezemolo.

As of the current, Schumacher is still receiving specialist treatment by full-time rehabilitation staff in his Swiss mansion located at the shores of Lake Geneva. Since the family, close friends and long-time manager of Schumacher has been very silent about his health condition and barely gives an update, fans are glad to hear one from Di Montezemolo who also paid a tribute to the racer saying that he was very talented, hardworking and humble.

CNN also noted that Di Montezemolo's update has given a tinge of optimism to fans after he said in February that Schumacher's health wasn't going so well. Fans remain hopeful that Schumacher's health continues to improve over time regardless if it is a slow progress. Other reports have detailed that the racer's total cost of rehabilitation is £100,000 weekly or $154,000. It's a big cost to shell out but manager Sabin Kehm said that Schumacher is somehow making some progress.

Schumacher acquired severe brain injury after a ski accident in the French Alps during his vacation. He was in a medically induced coma for six months in the hospital before moving to home care.
