There are rumors that Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will be sporting an enhanced battery life, thanks to the next generation of Intel processing chipsets. However, the incorporation of the new processors to Surface Pro 5 is expected to cause a delay in the anticipated launching of the new Surface Pro model.

The Surface Pro 4 has proven to be a huge commercial success worldwide, as well as a surprise critical success as many tech analysts gave high praises for its features. The latest Surface Pro iteration actually placed Microsoft on the map with these top-of-the-line hybrid devices. However, as reported by the GSM Arena, most tech specialists have also noted of Surface Pro 4's very poor battery life, mainly due to its over-performing processors. This is why Microsoft is said to make Surface Pro 5 with better battery capacity, although still exhibiting high quality performance like its predecessor.

Longer battery performance can be done with a high efficient processor, and it is rumored that Intel's latest Kaby Lake processor will do the trick for Surface Pro 5. The Kaby Lake processors are said to optimize the use of battery power, and will require less heat for all of its work. This will help Surface Pro 5 prolong its battery life for more hours compared to Surface Pro 4.

According to Mobi Picker, the Surface Pro 5 will also be sporting an impressive random access memory (RAM) capacity of up to 16 GB. There are also options for the buyers to choose the low-end Surface Pro 5 variant although it will have less than 16 GB RAM. Another interesting feature of Surface Pro 5 is the 4K ultra high-definition (UHD) screen display option that will maximize the visual experience of all Surface Pro users.

Surface Pro 5 will also get its own improved version of the Surface Pen, a unique USB Type C port and enhanced camera. The device is expected to run on Windows 10 Redstone 2 and have the anticipated AMD Polaris graphics processing unit (GPU).

However, Microsoft may have to wait for a longer time to use the latest Kaby Lake technology. As reported by Yibada, the Surface Pro 5 was intended to launch in June 2016 after the official announcement of the Kaby Lake processors at the 2016 Computex. However, as Intel was reported to push back the production of Kaby Lake chipsets to the final months of 2016, it is expected that the new Surface Pro will be delayed to an early 2017 release.
