Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date, specs news update: Hybrid device launch pushed back to 2017

Microsoft Surface Pro 4 tablet was released in October 2015 and fans are expecting that the company will roll out its new iteration a year later. However, the latest report surrounding the development of the upcoming Microsoft Surface Pro 5 might be disappointing for millions of Microsoft followers. Reports suggest that the device may not come out this year but rather in early 2017.

According to a report by CNET, contrary to the previous speculations that the hybrid will be launched in June of this year, fans will not be able to see the device until 2017 due to development issues.

The rumored delay of Windows 10 update could also play a major role in the device's release. It is also reported that Microsoft is waiting for Intel to wrap up the development of its latest processor, the "Kaby Lake," which is said to be the successor of the impressive "Skylake" Intel processors.

Meanwhile, Apple is said to release another device this June called MacBook Pro 2016, which is considered as the closest competition of Microsoft Surface Pro 5. Just like its rival, MacBook Pro 2016 specs have not been released yet. As of the moment, rumors about of Microsoft Surface Pro 5 specs include the "Kaby Lake" CPU from Intel.

According to some reports, the device is said to have the usual microSD card slot, USB C port with a single USB 3.0 port and audio jack. The device will also carry a mini display port for video and its Surface Pen is said to be rechargeable. There are speculations that the hybrid device will have a price tag that starts at $899.

Microsoft is definitely doing their best to make sure the next Surface Pro iteration will be as impressive as its predecessor. For now, fans will have to wait for the company to finally announce the device and provide details with regard to is specifications.
