'Mr. Robot' season 2 spoilers news: Expect new season to be braver, darker as new faces make upcoming season more interesting

What should fans expect from the upcoming "Mr. Robot" season 2? | Mr. Robot/Facebook

"Mr. Robot" presented something different to viewers when it premiered last year. Now, a month before its second season premieres, fans want to know what's next for this socialist thriller, which is inarguably one of 2015's best shows.

Most TV shows these days follow oft-treaded paths that make their plots predictable. "Mr. Robot" certainly doesn't fit into that mold, as it has stood out from the lot. Here is Elliot (Rami Malek), a vigilante computer hacker battling clinical depression and social anxiety. He struggles to fit into the world he lives in while being intrinsically different.

It was revealed at the end of season 1 that Elliot was "Mr. Robot" all along, and that "Mr. Robot" (Christian Slater) was merely a figment of Elliot's imagination. It was quite reminiscent of the Tyler Durden delusion in "Fight Club."

Now, season 2's trailer, which was shared by Movie Pilot, shows that Christian Slater will return and figure prominently in the upcoming season. It appears Elliot would relapse and allow his alter ego to stage a vindictive comeback. However, just how the show's creator, Sam Esmail, would balance this narrative with the fact that viewers now know "Mr. Robot's" merely a hallucination is something worth looking forward to. Watch the clip below.

Many new faces would join season 2, including Grace Gummer, Aasif Mandvi, Craig Robinson, and rapper Joey Bada$$. Esmail has assured that season 2 would move away from season 1's direction and that the plot would explore both the past and the present.

During an event for the upcoming Emmy nominations titled "For Your Consideration," the cast of "Mr. Robot" joined a panel but they did not share any spoilers for the series' coming season. But they did share that Esmail will be directing all of season 2's 10 episodes and that he would be upping the visual style that's closely identified with the series. Yahoo shared a clip of that panel discussion.

"Mr. Robot" season 2 will premiere on July 13 at 10 p.m. on USA.
