"NCIS: Los Angeles" is set to return on-screen for its eighth run on Oct. 2, but its showrunner revealed something that fans could expect happening in the upcoming season.

It would be remembered that Marty Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) and Kensi Blye (Daniela Ruah) were immersed in a serious conversation about their relationship at some point in the season 7 finale. The two even broached the subject of having children, as Deeks entertained the possibility of them getting engaged.

According to International Business Times, R. Scott Gemmill, who recently replaced Shane Brennan as series showrunner, has discussed the possibility of continuing Deeks and Kensi's story in season 8 with his production crew. It appears that he has firm plans of setting the direction for the next level of Deeks and Kensi's relationship, and that they "already know how" they are going to approach it.

"It's just, the fans have waited long enough that we want it to be worth the wait," he added.

Brennan had to leave "NCIS: Los Angeles" after inking a 2-year exclusive deal with CBS where he will be working on the TV adaptation of "The Expendables." He handed over the reins to Gemmill, who unfortunately had to earn the brunt of fans' violent reactions.

Nevertheless, John Peter Kousakis, another executive producer of the show, took to Twitter to assure fans that "NCIS: Los Angeles" are back at work and that season 8 will be one exciting ride, referring to the upcoming season as both "spectacular" and "sensational."

Meanwhile, Ecumenical News said that "NCIS: Los Angeles" season 8 will pick up where season 7 left off, so fans will see G. Callen (Chris O'Donnell) continuing his journey towards self-discovery. He will try to look for more clues that would reveal his true identity, his family origins, and more.

"NCIS: Los Angeles" is set to return on CBS on Oct. 2. LL Cool J, Linda Hunt, and Barret Foa will join O'Donnell, Rush, and Olsen in reprising their roles.
