'NCIS' season 13 finale spoilers: Michael Weatherly hints DiNozzo's death

As the "NCIS" season 13 finale nears, fans get more and more insight on how Michael Weatherly's beloved character will say his goodbyes. Fans have been worried about Agent Tony DiNozzo being killed off.

Although "NCIS" showrunner Gary Glasberg has already said DiNozzo will be "around for the whole final episode and enjoy the roller coaster ride that comes with it," Weatherly implied that his character has no other way to leave than death.

"I hope that everybody out in fanland understands that this was the natural way for DiNozzo to leave. DiNozzo leaves NCIS the same way he came, which is my cryptic little puzzle message to the fans," Weatherly told Extra.

He also teased death for DiNozzo in a figurative sense, saying "Part of him dies. I do know that there is death. Sudden death."

Glasberg said in an interview with TV Insider that Weatherly's exit in the "NCIS" season 13 finale will have "heart-wrenching, emotional moments" although the actor himself had a bunch more words to describe the departure while speaking to USA Today.

"It's confusing, action-packed, incredibly emotional, unpredictable, and yet totally entertaining on both a simple and complex level," Weatherly said.

Although it will be painful for fans to see DiNozzo leave "NCIS," his exit comes as no surprise. In the aforementioned TV Insider interview, he explained that is decision to exit comes from the fact that he has been on the show for too long and that there are other things he should be doing.

His thoughts about leaving "NCIS" further strengthened in 2013 after the exit of Cote de Pablo, whose character former Mossad agent Ziva David has been heavily involved with DiNozzo.

Weatherly revealed in another USA Today interview that while the other characters developed, DiNozzo has reached the point where he "needed to go on the next adventure."

The "NCIS" season 13 finale will see DiNozzo and the team tracking down a dangerous British spy who sets his eyes on agents like DiNozzo. The FBI and MI6 assist in the search, proving the level of danger this poses on everybody.

"NCIS" season 13 finale "Family First" will air on Tuesday, May 17 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
