Nexus 7 2016 release date, specs news: Nexus 7 being developed by Huawei?

Google will reportedly launch its new hardware under the Pixel brand. The Pixel-branded devices include the Nexus smartphones and the forthcoming Nexus 7 tablet. On the other hand, some reports claimed that the Nexus 7 will be developed by Huawei.

There are talks of Huawei developing a Nexus device that is supposed to launch this year. However, it has not announced what specific gadget this will be. Spectators are convinced that Huawei could be creating the forthcoming Nexus tablet. Some also suggested that the company could be developing the Nexus phones.

Huawei refused to reveal the details about the device in an official statement. It said that they are proud to be working on another project with Google, and that they are hoping to for another collaboration in the future, particularly for the virtual reality (VR) platform "Daydream."

Rumor has it that the Nexus 7 will be powered by a NVIDIA Tegra X1 processing chip and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. Thus, the device will have 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. Speculators asserted that the storage capacity can even be upgraded to 2 TB.

The device will also come with the recently released Android Nougat 7.0 operating system. The final update for Nougat showcased new folder designs, new emojis, an updated camera app, launcher shortcuts, multi-window support and a night mode option. Since speculators are convinced that Huawei is creating it, "Daydream" is expected to be one of the tablet's features.

News outlets once suggested that details of the Nexus 7 tablet would be revealed at the Google I/O event last May. However, there was no announcement regarding the forthcoming device during the said event. Google has yet to share the details of the rumored tablet. So far, talks about the Nexus 7 have all been speculations.

The Nexus 7 is expected to launch within the year. Some are expecting the tablet to be released on Thanksgiving, Nov. 24.
