Rumor has it that aside from the recently unveiled Android 7.0 N, the Google Nexus 7 tablet is also up for an update. Fuelling the speculations would be the discounted price offering for the Nexus 6P. Most of the time, tech companies offer a price cut because a new device in their lineup is underway. According to reports, the current Nexus 6P is being sold at Best Buy with $50 off the original price.

Google's 7-inch tablet, the Nexus 7 arrived in the markets in cooperation with Asus. In 2013, it was updated and now, rumors claim that 2016 will finally be the year that Nexus 7 makes a comeback. Huawei will likely be tapped by Google to make the new Nexus 7 2016, given its success with the Nexus 6P. Among the expectations for the Nexus 7 is a metal body, a 7-inch display and most importantly, a lower price.

Rumors circulating the internet claim that instead of using Qualcomm's high-priced Snapdragon 820, the Nexus 7 will sport the lower version Snapdragon 810, keeping the price still at a reasonable level. Moreover, a Quad HD panel should be anticipated, rendering a crisp 1080p screen resolution display. Two to three GB of RAM can be expected from Google's upcoming device, as it will have to remain in a competitive price range, reports have claimed.

Google has yet to make any announcement on Nexus 7's arrival, but according to reports, the next generation of the Google Nexus smartphone will be released this coming May at Google's I/O Conference which has been its launching platform ever since. In a Twitter post by Google CEO Sundar Pichai, he announced the schedule of this year's I/O. The developer's conference will take place between May 18 and 20 at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California.
