A promise is a promise, and as far as Luffy is concerned, it has to be kept even at the expense of one's life. But how long can the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates keep his word when he's obviously just running on fumes and blind resilience at this point?

The previous chapter of the long-running Japanese manga series "One Piece" ended with Luffy scrambling to return to the spot where he has previously vowed he'd never move away from until Sanji returns to them. After Jinbe rescued him and Nami from captivity, Luffy set off in search of Sanji, but instead, encountered Reiju, Sanji's sister, who told him that her brother already knew the truth about Pudding but still decided not to leave the island.

However, upon hearing this, and as though envisioning what Sanji might do next, Luffy jumped off the castle window to rush back to their "promised place." But with Sanji still hung up on the Baratie crew being held hostage on East blue, and on Big Mom's promise that she'd let the Straw Hats go if he cooperated, Luffy may well be waiting in vain. Or is he? Will Sanji have a change of heart in "One Piece" chapter 854 when he quiets himself down enough to remember Luffy's vow? Can he really turn his back on a friend on a hunger strike?

Meanwhile, Chopper and Carrot may have just found the perfect way to save everyone from the threats of Whole Cake Island through Brûlée's Mirror World. Will they make it in time to save Brook from being lumped in with the rest of Big Mom's collections? Will they manage to talk Sanji out of his self-sacrificing mood? Will they all make it out of Big Mom's chateau alive with what they came there for in the first place: Sanji and a rubbing of Big Mom's Road Poneglyph?

Also, with the revelation of Pudding having the blood of the Three-Eye Tribe, who are believed to have the power to hear the voices of things, and thus, understand the writings on the Poneglyphs, will the race to get to Raftel first be on when the Straw Hat Pirates sail away from Whole Cake Island?

A fan on Reddit speculated that while there will be no interaction between Luffy and Sanji in the next few chapters, Sanji may have actually gotten hung up on Luffy's promised hunger strike and left a bento for him on their promised spot. A little show of concern can go a long way, but Sanji will still have to make the decision to leave on his own because Luffy's personality will not allow the Straw Hat Pirates' captain to do it for him.

A new chapter of "One Piece" is published regularly on the "Weekly Shounen Jump" magazine.

In other news, a Twitter account for has just been set up for the "One Piece" manuscript staff, which promises information and behind-the-scenes tidbits on the long-running manga series' 20th-anniversary celebrations.
