Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus is expected to release a new smartphone soon. Dubbed the OnePlus 4, the device will come sometime next year.

According to reports, the device is going to be a cheaper alternative to the iPhone 7 because of its purported impressive specs and features. OnePlus has not disclosed any information regarding the device but rumor has it that it will be packed with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 chipset.

It is also said to be equipped with a whopping 8 GB of RAM, which is a bigger amount compared to iPhone's 2 GB of RAM. Most 2016 devices usually come only with either 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM.

Reports also revealed that the OnePlus 4 will be pre-installed with the latest Google operating system, the Android 7.0 Nougat. There is no word yet regarding the phone's native storage space but the OnePlus 3 model came with 64 GB and no card slot. OnePlus could upgrade the new phone with this.

As for the camera specs and features, reports said that it will be coming with a 23-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture lens. In front will be an 8-megapixel selfie snapper. Other leaked information regarding the handset stated that it will be featuring a 5.5-inch screen size but it's still to be known if it will have a 4K design or will be sporting a Quad HD display.

It's also rumored to have improved battery capacity. If OnePlus 3 came with a 3,000 mAh battery, its successor will get either a 3,500 mAh or 4,000mAh battery. It may also feature fast battery charging just like the One Plus 3.

Currently, there is no specific date on when the purported device will launch but it could make its debut in the first quarter of 2017. Rumors also suggested that OnePlus is also going to bring another version of the OnePlus 3, which is said to be called the OnePlus 3 Plus.

Nothing is official for now though so it's best to take reports with a pinch of salt. Interested consumers will have to watch out for more updates.
